Feeling the love

Here are just a few of the positive things people have to say about us:

The work that the foundation does is genuinely inspiring and will better the lives of thousands of our next generation, helping them to become the best they can be. I’m proud to have played my part in its journey and I look forward to hearing more updates from the team soon.

The Straumann Group are delighted to support and partner with Lovelocaljobs Foundation to provide essential support to our local community.  As a local employer, we believe that our local schools and children need to be supported and developed at a grass roots level, to give them a taste of what to experience within the world of work.  This initiative was designed to build confidence and expose these students to challenges, helping them build strategies to overcome them and build, the confidence that comes from success.

Testimonials for each programme:

I have learnt that I am beautiful just the way I am and I should respect others opinions and keep our different opinions separate. I don't need to argue, just say okay and take a deep breath. My Business Guide has taught me that I shouldn't be afraid, failures create opportunities, I am not useless if I fail and there is just more learning. He has taught me to be happy with who I am and not try to please others by changing myself to fit their needs. I have learnt to be more outgoing. I can't thank my Business Guide enough for what he has taught me. He has helped me so much, more than anyone. He really helped me love myself and build self-esteem. I can't thank him enough. He's really helped me come out of a bad place.

This is a very powerful programme run by amazing people. I have gained a lot of confidence from it. I am so grateful for everyone who volunteered. I don’t know how to describe how big of an impact it has had on so many people.

Student participant, Be the Change

I have been so impressed with the whole process. The students have loved being a part of it as have I, watching them develop at each session. I am sure these young people continue to grow and head in the right direction. This process has certainly helped in a big way.

Teacher participant, Be the Change

I have been professionally and personally inspired by the programme and only feel disappointed that it has come to an end. I believe every school and every child should have the opportunity to get involved with Be the Change – it’s been truly amazing.

Business Guide participant, Be the Change

Be the Change has been a brilliant, rewarding and challenging experience. The impact of the programme on the students was clearly visible at our last meeting and it is amazing to think that by giving up a small amount of time we have given a young person the confidence and courage to feel happy and optimistic for their future.

Jack’s speech was both inspirational and entertaining. He talked about perseverance and being who you are. His manner and the way he presented himself showed that he isn’t just telling us to follow our dreams, but shows that he has taken to heart everything he told us. His successful career and life showed us students that we can be successful as well. Before he started the speech he went into the audience to talk to and shake hands with us; this shows that he really connects with us and his speech is actually genuine.

Jack-the-Lad is an inspiration to all students, he connected with all the kids he was talking to and his attitude towards how to persevere in life was truly motivational, an amazing guy!

The talk jack gave was fantastic. So inspirational and the Year 11’s were so attentive. Not a peep heard and they were totally engaged with what he had to say. I have heard back from a number of staff that were in attendance that said how brilliant it was. Also our Principal who was able to attend for the first half came in to see me in my office just now and said it was a really good quality presentation, just the sort of message we want for our students and he hopes we can have more speakers in like yourself.

It was engaging and inspiring, overall an enjoyable experience. Hearing his story was incredible and motivational and makes me want to chase what I want, not the security I’ve been told I need.

Jack was truly an inspiring speaker, his charisma and approach captivated our student audience (and the staff too!).  We can't wait to have you back Jack!

The Burgess Hill Academy were pleased to invite Jack to give a special presentation to our Year 9 students on “Dare to Dream”.  From the very start of the assembly, Jack engaged all our students with humour and humility.  Talking about his background and how he didn’t let a difficult start in life stop him from achieving his goals.  It is not an easy task to hold the attention of 180 13-14 year olds but Jack interspersed a strong message – “you can achieve, if you put your mind to it” with little anecdotes about celebrities that he had met during his time at Heart FM.  “Absolutely fantastic” and “Really inspiring” – just two comments from students as they left the hall. We are definitely looking forward to inviting Jack back to inspire our Year 10’s.

From the start the presentation was engaging and thought provoking. The theme and message of how grades alone are not the only measure in life of how successful you can become and how resilience, perseverance and just being “that nice guy” can sometimes be more powerful in enabling young people to achieve their goals and aspirations in life.

This was a really powerful message and presented in such a way that kept the entire cohort transfixed for an entire hour! I would (and already have) whole heartedly recommend you to any schools/education establishments who are looking for external speakers to encourage, motivate and inspire their young people to follow their dreams and not give up on their goals and ambitions in life, all the teachers that heard the talk also found it inspiring.

It was great to be involved in the Take the Leap interviews to see how the programme could positively impact the students and help them build confidence and address their fears in a proactive way. The interviewees were all thoroughly prepared and did really well during the interview!

We are delighted to be working with the LoveLocalJobs Foundation to send 14 of our Year 8 students to Snowdonia in September. This trip will provide them with experiences that simply can’t be offered in school. They will come away from their week in Wales with greater resilience, enhanced self-esteem, stronger bonds with their peers, and lifelong memories.

Headteacher, Kings School

Perhaps the most telling impact was seen yesterday after school. One of the children who went on the trip was sitting on a bench after school, chatting to another child from the trip. One of the staff who went on the trip went to say hello, and to check they were alright. The response was great; they replied that they were fine, just chatting with their new friends. When asked, they said they didn’t know each other before the trip, and that many of them had been hanging out down the beach over the holidays. They had made some good friendships and were much happier in school as a result.

Richard Baker, Dorothy Stringer

Wow, what a wonderful week! I cannot begin to explain how important this week has been to these students. Many of them were terrified of going away for a week and facing the unknown but they all achieved so much during their time at Dolawen. This is a week that they will never forget, and for some of them it was potentially life changing. We saw students who would barely raise their eyes to meet staff before they went, grow in confidence so much through their endeavours. There were tears and much laughter, and every one of the students faced their own fears and supported each other throughout the week. It was a true team effort. Their resilience was incredible and they should be very proud.

Andy and Bryn were fantastic instructors - they were calm, patient and highly professional with students who were sometimes really struggling with the challenges they faced. In a short space of time they managed to build such strong and trusting relationships with the students that their impact will be felt for a long time to come.

Thank you so much for the opportunity you have given these students. The students, parents and carers are so grateful to all of the people who made it possible.
